Superintendent of Police Nitika Pant said that the district saw a sharp rise by 60 percent of crimes in this year as compared to that of previous years. She briefed the annual crime report to the media persons here on Monday.
Nitika disclosed that the district registered 1,934 offences in 2025 as against 1,207 crimes reported in 2024, indicating an increase by 60.23 percent. Despite a slew of measures taken by the police to control crimes,
house burglaries by night, thefts, culpable homicides, kidnappings, grievous hurts and cheatings went up in this year.
The Superintendent said that 210 property-related offences including one robbery, 19 cash, 34 gold and silver, 83 sand, 10 copper wire, 05 cattle, 09 automobile and 49 other theft cases were reported in this year.
The loss of property was assessed to be Rs 1.06 crore. Property worth Rs 23 lakh was recovered.
