In view of government orders prohibiting congregations at religious places in view of Covid-19 pandemic, Mecca Masjid administration has closed the mosque for general public on Shab-e-Baraat on Sunday.

Abdul Khadeer Siddiqui, superintendent, Mecca Masjid said the State government issued orders restraining religious gatherings on Shab-e-Baraat due to Covid19. “In view of the orders, we are not allowing outsiders into the mosque for prayers. Only the staff of the mosque will be attending the



prayers,” he said.

Several public meetings planned to be held at various places in the city on the occasion of Shab-e-Baraat were also cancelled. Religious scholars and community elders asked the people to stay home and make the prayers and engage in religious activity.

Meanwhile the police appealed to the youngsters not to loiter around on the roads on Shab-e-Baraat and instead utilise the opportunity for spiritual purpose
