Senior neurologist and Professor, Department of Neurology, Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS), Dr A K Meena is in a critical condition and on ventilator support in London, United Kingdom.

According to senior doctors from NIMS, the renowned doctor and neurology faculty suffered a massive heart attack while attending an international medical conference in London on Tuesday. Dr. Meena collapsed at the venue of the conference and was immediately attended by fellow Indian neurologists who were participating in the conference.
She was rushed to a local London hospital where doctors conducted an emergency angioplasty and implanted three stents to unblock her clogged

arteries.

Dr. Meena was in the process of recovering from the heart attack when she suffered a brain stroke and was immediately put on ventilator support. The doctors in London are likely to take a call on declaring Dr. Meena as brain dead after conducting further tests.

“The doctors in UK are going to conduct three more tests before taking a call. Indian doctors who are our friends are monitoring the treatment and personally taking care of Dr. Meena. At present, she is on ventilator support. We are also in the process of sending a faculty member from NIMS to London,” Director, NIMS, Dr K Manohar said.
