The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Secunderabad Division seized 60.9 kgs of marijuana valued at around Rs 30 lakh during a special operation on Friday.

The seizure was made as part of ‘Operation Narcos,” an initiative aimed at curbing the smuggling of narcotics via trains. Following a tip-off, the officials searched the Konark Express between Secunderabad

and Begumpet stations.

During inspection of a general coach, officials found seven unclaimed bags hidden under seats. Upon verification, no passenger came forward to claim ownership. A detailed search revealed 31 packets of marijuana concealed inside the bags. The contraband was later handed over to the Excise Department, which booked a case and is investigating.
