In a joint operation, the Secunderabad railway police arrested an interstate ganja smuggling gang and seized 41.141 kilograms of dry marijuana worth Rs 20.56 lakh from their possession.
According to S N Jawed, Secunderabad Railway Division, DSP, and RPF jointly organized surprise checking against drug peddlers on platforms and trains at Secunderabad railway station and arrested three interstate peddlers while they were
transporting dry ganja from Balangir, Odisha to Nagpur in Maharashtra via Secunderabad.
The arrested smugglers have been identified as Mahesh Dilip (25) and Kartik Chandrakant (30) and a CCL boy aged about 17 years, all natives of Maharashtra, Jawed said.
During questioning, the trio revealed that they were consuming ganja and alcohol and procured the contraband from Odisha and concealed it in a trolley suitcase.
