The Commercial Department of South Central Railway (SCR) conducted a large-scale ticket checking drive across its Secunderabad, Hyderabad and Nanded divisions, detecting more than 4,100 cases of ticketless and irregular travel while collecting over Rs 30.53 lakh in penalties on a single day on Monday.

The intensive day-long operation covered 169 trains and involved 186 ticket checking



staff.

SCR officials said the drive targeted passengers travelling without valid tickets, irregular travellers, those carrying unbooked luggage, as well as offenders involved in littering, smoking on railway premises and unauthorised hawking.

During the special drive, railway officials detected 4,121 cases of ticketless travel, irregular travel and unbooked luggage, generating ticket checking revenue of Rs 30.53 lakh.
