The Government Railway Police Secunderabad on Thursday arrested two persons who had allegedly stolen gold ornaments from the bags of passengers in a moving train. The police recovered gold ornaments valued at Rs 25 lakh from them.

The arrested are Kokila Maniraju alias Mani (39), a resident of Karnataka, and S Dina (27), a resident of Vellore district in Tamilnadu.

According to the police, the duo had booked two seats on the Nanded Express on



December 2 and boarded the train at Vishakhapatnam. “While the passengers were asleep at night, they opened the bags of two women passengers and took away gold ornaments,” said S N Jawed, DSP, Government Railway Police.

After stealing the gold ornaments, the duo got down from the train at Cherlapally station and escaped. On a complaint, the railway police registered a case and, after identifying them, arrested the accused. The stolen property was recovered from them.
