School Helper Arrested for Beating Student Over Extra Egg In Filmnagar

A school helper allegedly beat an 11-year-old Class VI student with a ladle after he took an additional boiled egg without permission during lunch hour at an Anganwadi school in Jai Bhavaninagar, Filmnagar police said. 

The incident came to light after the victim’s parents lodged a complaint, following which the accused, Balanageswareamma, was arrested. The victim’s father, who works at a private firm, said, “My neighbours informed me that my son suffered injuries on his right shoulder after being beaten up by the ayah.

wife and I rushed to the school. By that time, the school management had taken him to a private hospital where doctors said he suffered bleeding and internal injuries."

All names are being withheld to protect the minor’s identity. The father said he lodged the complaint seeking strict action against the school helper. “They are children. 

What is wrong if he took two eggs instead of one? Is that a major violation of the mid-day meal scheme? The school should have informed us instead of beating him with a ladle,” he rued.
