A woman sarpanch Yerrolla Akkamma’s tenure lasted for less than 48 hours as she died of illness at her residence in Mirzapur of Nyalkal mandal on Wednesday.

The 58-year-=old woman was supported by Congress party and was elected as sarpanch with a thumping majority of 141 votes. She took the oath on Monday on



the premises of grama panchayath along with ward members.

However, Akkamma, whose health deteriorated, breathed her last at her residence on Wednesday, leaving the entire village in a shock. The demise of the sarpanch will make the election officials hold a re-election for sarpanch post in the village shortly.
