City Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar on Friday launched an artificial intelligence-based smart kiosk, ‘SETU’, at Mehdipatnam Police Station as a pilot project aimed at making complaint registration easier, faster and more transparent.

The kiosk allows citizens to submit complaints in the language of their choice, with AI digitally recording their statements. It provides an immediate acknowledgement and guides complainants on the next

steps.

Each petition is assigned a digital tracking mechanism, enabling senior officers to monitor its progress and action taken until resolution. Police said the system would also reduce the time spent by station personnel on complaint registration.

Sajjanar said ‘SETU’, meaning bridge, was designed to strengthen trust between citizens and the police. He said the service would be expanded to other police stations in a phased manner based on the outcome of the pilot project.
