The TSRTC JAC leaders meet various political party leaders on Wednesday and sought their support for Chalo Tank Bund, being organised on the lines of Million March held during Telangana agitation, on November 9.

Speaking to reporters, JAC convener E Ashwathama Reddy said that they would be taking up Chalo Tank Bund on the lines of Million March. He said that not even one per cent of the workers joined the duties on the deadline fixed by the Chief Minister.

He reiterated that without the permission of Central government, the State government cannot take policy decisions on RTC. Apart from this, the consent of recognised union is also must. The government can move ahead only if it brings an Act in the Assembly. "We want the government to call the workers for talks. If the government intimidates, the issue would become more complicated. The Centre has provided feasibility for the State governments to privatise some routes as per the new MV Act, but it is not compulsory for them," Ashwathama Reddy

said.

The JAC convener further said that they were talking to the government employees and appealing with them to take up 'pen down' in support of the TSRTC workers. He further said that they were ready to go for talks if the government forms committee. "There were efforts to dispose of TSRTC after the formation of Telangana. Government is even dictating the courts," Ashwathama Reddy alleged.

Co-Convener K Raji Reddy said that since the demands of the workers are justifiable, not even one per cent workers reported to duties. The workers have showed they are not afraid of the intimidating tactics of the government. MRPS chief Manda Krishna Madiga lauded the RTC workers for their dedication. He said that even after three deadlines by the Chief Minister, the workers were unrelenting. He said that the merger of RTC with government was not a new demand but an old one. Meanwhile, the RTC workers staged dharnas in front of the depots and got arrested at several places in the State.
