A history-sheeter created panic in the city for a couple of hours before being caught by the Golconda police from the emergency ward of a hospital on Wednesday night.

Fareed alias Khaja Fareed (27), a resident of Nampally allegedly involved in 16 cases, was suffering from mental health issues as well. On Wednesday around 10 pm, the man who was moving in a stolen car, first hit a police vehicle at MLA Colony in Banjara Hills on being stopped. He later jumped out of the car and rushed towards a person who was going on a scooter, and after threatening the rider, took away the vehicle.

He went towards Tolichowki when Golconda Inspector K Chandrasekhar Reddy, who was checking vehicles, tried to stop him.

“Fareed got



down from the scooter and tried to attack the officer and when the police attempted to overpower him, he ran into a private hospital.

“He barged into the emergency ward and threatened to kill a patient or himself with a knife,” the police said, adding that a police team finally managed to overpower him and shift him to the police station.

On Tuesday night, Fareed had gone to the house of one Maqbool Ahmed, a friend of his younger brother Basheer, who died in an accident on January 31. He forcibly took the car from there, after which a case was booked against him. as well.

“Fareed believed Maqbool and others who were in the car during the accident were responsible for Basheer’s death,” police said.
