The official X account of Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Shamshabad was hacked briefly on Monday, but was promptly recovered by its IT team.

GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd (GHIAL), in a statement, later said the unauthorised access was detected, and the account was restored and made fully operational.

Airport authorities said the incident was reported to the relevant

cybercrime authorities and X, while a detailed investigation is underway.

During the breach, posts promoting a cryptocurrency-related rewards programme reportedly appeared on the account for a brief time.

GHIAL also clarified that the airport’s X account was not integrated with its operational systems. Therefore, the incident had no impact on airport operations, passenger services or other critical systems.
