Tension prevailed for a while at Falaknuma main road on Tuesday afternoon after the local revenue officials demolished a few shops on the road stretch.

According to eyewitnesses, personnel from the Bandlaguda Tahsildar office came to the Farooqnagar junction along with the police, deployed an excavator and demolished a few shops located on the main road stretch.

“The local police and Tahsildar office staff told us that it is government land, while we have been running our

shops and paying a monthly rent to the owner of the property for the last 13 years. Whose fault is it?,” asked Mohammed Imtiyaz.

The shop owners complained that they had suffered extensive losses due to the demolition without any intimation.

“The authorities have destroyed the livelihood of poor people. How do you expect me to survive without any alternative livelihood? At least they could have informed us so that we could move our belongings,” complained Syed Mazhar.
