In contrast to the general practice of party adhering to the Congress high command decisions, TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud said if MLAs desired, Revanth Reddy could be the Chief Minister in the second term as well. “There is good chemistry between me and the Chief Minister. The Telangana Congress will fight the next Assembly elections under Revanth Reddy’s leadership,” Mahesh Kumar Goud stressed.

It may be recalled that the Chief Minister’s declaration in July that he would continue to occupy the office in the next term was openly opposed by a few leaders, including Munugode MLA Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy. The MLA had reminded that Congress was a national party and the party high command takes the call on such issues.

In an informal chat with media persons here on Friday, the TPCC president said in the last one year, the Chief Minister and Ministers had worked in coordination. Regarding the turncoat MLAs issue,

he said Khairthabad MLA Danam Nagender had expressed willingness to resign and contest the elections again.

“I personally feel he will not lose his membership of the House,” Mahesh Kumar Goud opined.

On the contentious 42 percent reservations to BCs in the local body elections, the TPCC president said all efforts were being made to conduct the election only after extending the reservations.

“BCs should set aside caste considerations for a few days. I take pride in being a BC but there should be no caste obsession,” Mahesh Kumar Goud observed.

Stressing that Congress would not tolerate any sort of indiscipline amongst leaders, he said the party high command was closely monitoring the Munugode MLA’s case. “Komatireddy Brothers were known to speak from their heart. In Rajgaopal’s case there is some confusion but high command will decide,” Mahesh Kumar Goud added.
