Former Minister T Harish Rao on Tuesday said Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy was encouraging violence in politics across the State, alleging a complete breakdown of law and order during the gram panchayat elections.
Referring to the Somarepet incident in Kamareddy district, where kin of a winning Congress sarpanch allegedly attempted to kill family members of BRS sarpanch candidate Bitla Raju, Harish Rao said such incidents reflected the Congress leadership’s mindset.
He further alleged that a BRS worker was killed in Nalgonda district and that BRS workers faced multiple attacks during the panchayat elections
across Telangana.
Rao said Revanth Reddy, who is also holding the Home portfolio, had failed miserably to maintain peace in the State during the election campaign. He demanded that the Chief Minister immediately arrest those involved in attacks against BRS workers.
Speaking after congratulating four sarpanches who won the elections in Gummadidala mandal of Patancheru constituency at his Hyderabad residence on Tuesday, Harish Rao said the BRS would certainly teach a lesson to those who attacked party leaders once it returned to power. He called upon party cadres to remain united until the next Assembly elections.
