Revanth Reddy blames BJP for delay in Presidential assent to BC Reservation Bills

Taking credit for the passage of two BC Reservation Bills, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy accused the BJP-led Centre of deliberately stalling Presidential assent to the bills. He blamed the Narendra Modi government for denying them an audience with President Droupadi Murmu.

He warned that unless the BJP government ensures approval for the BC Reservation Bills, the Congress would work towards dethroning it at the Centre. He said the Congress was forced to protest both on the streets and in Parliament due to the Centre’s indifference.

“The Congress and INDIA bloc parties stand united on this,” he added.

Delhi on Wednesday, Revanth Reddy claimed that the Congress government had fulfilled its promise of conducting a caste census and approving 42 per cent reservations for OBCs.

“But the bills, which were sent to the President over four months ago, remain in limbo,” he said.

The Chief Minister said the Centre’s indifference was a serious affront to the aspirations of backward communities. He warned the BJP that it would be viewed as anti-BC if the President’s nod was not granted. He stated that the bills had been pending for the last four months without any response.

He also said that the Telangana government had sought an appointment with the President but had received no response so far.
