People living in fear of displacement due to the Congress government’s proposed Gandhi Sarovar project and the Musi Rejuvenation Project have sent postcards to Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, urging him to dissuade Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy from proceeding with the projects.
Irrespective of age or profession, those likely to be affected wrote to Rahul Gandhi ahead of the March 13 event during which the State government is scheduled to release the detailed project report (DPR) and master plan for the Musi
Rejuvenation Project. The DPR will also include estimates for the Gandhi Sarovar project. The affected families want Rahul Gandhi to intervene before the project moves ahead.
Meanwhile, Mahatma Gandhi’s grandson Tushar Gandhi continued to voice his opposition to the proposed mammoth statue of his grandfather, stating that any project undertaken by a government should be carried out with the consent of the people affected, failing which it would go against the principles of democracy.
