He informed the Council on Monday that the government had enhanced the remuneration paid to contract lecturers working in government junior colleges from Rs 18,000 to Rs 27,000 per month. In respect of contract lecturers working in degree

colleges, proposal to hike the remuneration from the existing Rs 20,700 per month was under consideration. He termed the dharnas being staged by contract lecturers as politically motivated.

He wanted them to be paid salary on par with the 10th PRC norms. As per the norms, they should get Rs 36,100 per month instead of the existing Rs 18,000.
