Recently inaugurated Falaknuma bridge develops large pothole

Less than a year after the inauguration of the parallel Road Over Bridge (RoB) at Falaknuma, a large pothole has developed on the bridge, posing a serious threat to motorists and raising questions over the quality of construction.

The bridge, inaugurated on October 3, 2025, was built to ease traffic congestion between Chandrayangutta and Charminar. However, commuters say the appearance of a large pothole within such a short period reflects poor workmanship and inadequate maintenance.

The pothole, located on



the carriageway, has become a nightmare for motorists, particularly two-wheeler riders. As vehicles usually gather speed while climbing the bridge, many riders fail to notice the damaged stretch until the last moment, increasing the risk of accidents.

“This bridge is not even a year old, yet such a huge pothole has appeared. It makes us wonder about the quality and standard of the construction work. Huge amount of public money has been spent, but the results are disappointing,” said Mohammed Abdul Rahman, a resident of Falaknuma.
