The Cyberabad Police on Thursday morning took into custody former TV9 CEO V Ravi Prakash from the Chanchalguda prison in connection with a case booked by the Cyberabad’s Cybercrimes police in May.

The police, after questioning, produced him before the court in Miyapur by evening, after which he was remanded in judicial custody.

The Cybercrimes police registered the case against Ravi Prakash under Sections 406 (Punishment for criminal breach of trust) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and 66D of the IT Act based on a complaint lodged by T Krishna Prasad, president of iLabs Group.

In his complaint, Prasad said on April 24, 2019 they received a courier sent by N Lomesh Kumar of Indus Law, containing documents concerning a pending litigation before the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) in Hyderabad.

While examining the documents, they were shocked to notice a letter in the form of an email purportedly written by A Natarajan, who identified himself as an

employee of iLabs and sent the email contents and attached certain confidential documents to Ravi Adusumilli, managing director of Saif Partners.

The mail was also copied to Ramanuj Gopal, General Consul, Saif Partners and Vivek Mathur, Managing Director, Saif Partners. He stated that no person by the name of Natarajan was employed with iLabs Group and nor did they use Gmail to communicate with third parties.

The complainant said the fake email account was created by some persons with vested interests to transmit confidential documents to opponents so that they could make use of documents as legal evidence before the NCLT.

According to Cybercrimes Inspector K Srinivas, the IP address from which the email was purportedly written was traced to the mobile of Prakash.

A few days ago, Banjara Hills police had arrested him on charges of illegally withdrawing Rs 18 crore in the name of bonus and ex gratia without the knowledge of the management.
