In an interesting development, former MLC N Ramachandra Rao has reportedly been directed to file nomination for the State BJP president post, even as the nomination filing process was underway at the BJP office here on Monday.
The election notification for the Telangana BJP president post was issued on Sunday, with candidates asked to file their nominations between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m on Monday. Nominations can be withdrawn between 5 p.m. and 6
p.m.
However, it is learnt that the BJP leadership from New Delhi directed the former MLC to file his nomination, surprising many party leaders. According to reports, the move clearly indicates the national leadership’s preference in selecting the new State president.
Interestingly, Malkajgiri MP Etala Rajender, Union Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay, former MP DK Aruna and Goshamahal MLA T Raja Singh were among the key contenders for the post.
