The southwest monsoon is expected to enter Telangana State only after June 5, according to India Meteorological Department (IMD).
It said that in the wake of El Niño's impact, the movement of monsoon has slowed down and predicted less rainfall than the normal this year. Usually, the southwest is likely to enter the State by this month end but owing to El Niño's impact, the monsoon is expected to reach between June 5 and
10.
Meanwhile, Telangana continues to reel under hot conditions for the last few days with the day temperatures crossing 45 degrees Celsius. Vemulapalli mandal of Nalgonda district recorded a day temperature of 46.5 degrees Celsius on Monday.
Thirteen districts registered a maximum temperature of 46 degrees Celsius and half a dozen districts recorded 45.8 degrees Celsius. The IMD forecast that the State would continue to witness hot conditions for the next three days.
