The Government Railway Police, along with the Railway Protection Force, busted an interstate drug smuggling racket and arrested two youths who arrived from Odisha with 10.8 kg of marijuana worth Rs 5.42 lakh at Kacheguda railway station on Tuesday.

The suspects, identified as M Arjun (18) and V Srinivas (20) from Ranga Reddy district, had purchased the contraband from Berhampur in

Odisha and smuggled it into Hyderabad by train.

They later boarded an MMTS from Secunderabad railway station to Kacheguda, where they were caught during a surprise anti-drug check.

Police said the duo planned to sell part of the drug near the station and consume the rest with friends. Both are addicted to drugs and alcohol, and Arjun has a past criminal history.
