Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat instructed officials to follow Covid-19 guidelines and make proper arrangements for the forthcoming Ganesh idol immersion.

Speaking at a meeting to brief L B Nagar and Malkajgiri zones officials here on Thursday, Bhagwat directed them to be vigilant in sensitive places where other religious places were located and deploy police pickets where required.

He told the officials to give priority to experienced personnel while posting them at sensitive areas where different communities were living and to coordinate with Ganesh pandal organizers and local peace committee members to

complete immersion peacefully.

Bhagwat also recalled how NCC and NSS volunteers assisted police earlier in immersion duties and instructed the officials to take their help and added that retired police officers are allowed to provide their services and allowances will be provided to them.

He also warned the officials not to allow any stones and construction material left on the roads on the procession route and bomb squad should check before the immersion vehicles start in all major routes. Prohibitory orders will be issued on the sale of liquor on immersion day and sale of crackers.
