To facilitate digital payments at toll collection points and reduce reliance on cash transactions, QR code-based payments commenced at 19 interchange toll plazas under the Outer Ring Road (ORR) on Wednesday.
The Union government made it mandatory that from April 1, all users must use apps such as PhonePe, Paytm and Google Pay to make payments without cash at toll plaza booths. Users with the FASTag facility, however, will have cashless payments with Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology automatically scanning at toll plazas.
The Hyderabad Growth Corridor Limited (HGCL), which
manages 19 interchange toll plazas along the ORR, including at Pedda Amberpet, Medchal, Kokapet, Rajendranagar, Shamshabad, Edulnagulapally, Patancheru, Shamirpet, Ghatkesar, Keesara, TGPA, Nanakramguda, Pedda Golconda, Ravirayal, Tukkuguda, Taramatipeta, Sultanpur, Saragudem and Bonguluru, implemented the Central government’s decision on cashless transactions.
A senior HGCL official told ‘Telangana Today’ that while implementing the Central government orders, hybrid lanes are being maintained at the toll plazas. The left-side lane is earmarked as a hybrid lane for users who do not have FASTag and intend to pay cash.
