Representatives of the Janajagrana Samiti staged a protest in front of Karachi Bakery in Venkojipalem, Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. They objected to the name 'Karachi', questioning the relevance of naming a bakery after a city in Pakistan.
Calling it inappropriate, the protestors demanded that the bakery immediately change its name. They also urged the central government to file a treason case if the name was not changed.
This comes after the Pahalgam terror attack which claimed the lives of 26 civilians, including two from Andhra Pradesh.
Somisetti Madhusudhan, a software professional living in Bengaluru who hailed from Andhra Pradesh, was one of those
killed. Madhusudhan was on a family trip with his wife and two children when tragedy struck. His daughter Medhu is pursuing her intermediate studies, while son Dattu is in Class 8.
JS Chandramouli, a retired bank officer and a resident of Visakhapatnam, was another civilian who was killed in the attack.
“Mourning the tragic loss of Sri JS Chandramouli Garu and Sri Madhusudhan Garu, members of our Telugu community, who lost their lives in yesterday’s terrorist attack in Pahalgam. Our thoughts and prayers are with their families during this time of profound grief, and I pray they find the strength to endure this immense loss,” Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu wrote on X.
