A road near nala of naveen Nagar in Banjara Hills caved in following a private water tanker running over a nala on Tuesday.

The nala portion fall when a water tanker, reportedly arriving from Maheshwari Chambers, was passing through the vicinity. No casualties were reported.

This was the first incident in the Hyderabad city reported after heavy rains occurred on Monday evening. The incident occurred around 11 am, causing  traffic disruption to in the upscale neighbourhood.

Hyderabad Traffic police and GHMC sanitation wing officials were immediately deployed in naveen

nagar of Banjara Hills to assess the damage and manage the situation. The GHMC authoroties stated that the nala had been compromised due to the heavy load of water tanker, leading to the collapse of the adjacent roadway.

Soon after the incident, the tanker driver fled from the spot. Several vehicles were stranded as a result of the cave-in. Residents have been advised to seek alternative routes until the road is restored.

Investigations suggest that the drain line beneath the road may have weakened over time due to poor maintenance and movement of heavy vehicles, potentially leading to a sudden cave-in.
