Munya Nayak Thanda villagers in Nagulgidda mandal carried a pregnant woman on their shoulders for 3 km to reach an ambulance, as the hamlet has no road connectivity.
When Koushi Bai developed labour pains on Sunday afternoon, villagers began carrying her
towards an ambulance waiting two kilometres away. However, she delivered a healthy baby girl in the agricultural fields midway, assisted by ASHA workers and local women. The mother and newborn were then carried to the ambulance and shifted to the area hospital in Narayankhed for treatment.
