Star actor Prabhas adopted Khazipally reserve forest located near Dundigal on Monday and donated Rs 2 crore for its development, as part of the Green India Challenge initiative of TRS Rajya Sabha MP Joginpally Santosh Kumar.

Prabhas along with State Forest Minister Allola Indra Karan Reddy and Santosh Kumar laid the foundation stone for the urban forest park. The actor and the MP also planted a few saplings in the reserve forest, the Forest Department officials said.

Speaking on the occasion, Prabhas said his decision to adopt Khazipally forest area was inspired by the Green India Challenge initiative of Santosh Kumar. Prabhas acknowledged that his participation to help society through the Green India Challenge and adopting the reserve forest gave him immense satisfaction. Depending on the progress of the development of the forest reserve, the actor would be donating more funds.

The Forest Department is going to convert a small portion of the reserve forest, which is noted for its medicinal plants, into an urban forest park while the rest will

be a conservation zone. The authorities will also fence the entire 1,650 acres of the reserve forest and start developing an eco-park.

The construction activity will include a park gate, walking track, view point, gazebo and medicinal plant centre in the first phase.

The actor’s involvement in the development of Khazipally reserve forest is because of the untiring efforts of the MP. Santosh Kumar who adopted Keesara reserve forest, as part of the ‘Gift a Smile’ campaign on the occasion of the birthday of TRS working president K T Rama Rao and on August 31, 2019 laid the foundation stone for the rejuvenation of reserved forest. He promised that he would motivate and request his friends to take part in adoption of reserved forest regions.

On June 11 this year, Santosh Kumar and Prabhas started the fourth round of the Green India Challenge. On the occasion, the MP had stated that soon many industrialists would come forward to adopt reserve forest blocks and he would announce the details shortly.
