Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar on Wednesday inaugurated 60 new electric buses at the TGSRTC Kukatpally depot as part of the Green Challenge initiative.

The buses were flagged off in the presence of MLA Madhavaram Krishna Rao, TGSRTC Managing Director Y Nagi Reddy and Medchal district collector Manu Choudhary.

Speaking at the launch event, Ponnam Prabhakar said the government was expanding electric public transport to



control pollution and ensure Hyderabad does not turn into another Delhi in terms of air quality.

He stated that around 540 electric buses are currently operating in Hyderabad, while nearly 1,000 electric buses are being run across Telangana.

The minister further also announced that recognition elections for RTC workers? unions would be conducted soon and said the process of RTC merger discussions would begin with the elected unions.
