This International Women’s Day, around 10,000 women farmers from across the State will converge in Hyderabad to learn about best practices in farming.

For the first time, the Professor Jayashankar Telangana Agricultural University, along with the Agriculture Department, is set to hold a Mega Women Rythu Mela on the university campus here on March 8 and 9.

The focus

will be on issues such as how to overcome the large-scale use of pesticides and other chemicals, and monoculture farming. There will be sessions on fertiliser usage and soil health management as well.

PJTAU Vice Chancellor Prof. Aldas Janaiah said, “The women will be educated about how to use fewer pesticides and chemicals in farming and will also be educated about the need for crop rotation.”
