Rajanna Sircilla: Municipal Administration Minister KT Rama Rao has said that deaths related the covid-19 deaths were relatively low in Telangana when compared to other States. Moreover, the recovery rate was also high in the state, he said here on Monday.

Speaking after inaugurating a Covid-19 ward in district headquarters hospital and an isolation centre in Sardapur Agriculture College, Rama Rao asked media to highlight reports which would instill confidence among people, rather than increasing fear in the society. He said focus could be given to reporting those who conquered the coronavirus. At the same time, people who recovered from the virus should also come forward to donate plasma. He had also flagged off special ambulances meant for corona patients.

Interacting with doctors and nursing staff, Rama Rao advised them to provide treatment to covid patients by considering them as their family members. Half of the disease could be cured with a smile, he observed and wanted the hospital staff to interact and move with positive patients with love and affection. While providing treatment to covid patients, nursing staff should take all precautionary measures to avoid infection by the virus, he advised.

Later speaking at Sardapur, Rama Rao wanted the people to give moral support to corona frontline warriors such as doctors, staff nurses, police and sanitation workers. The minister appealed to political leaders and general public not to make any comments which would damage the self-respect of these people. All steps have been taken to check the spread of Covid-19. He called upon people to take part in the fight against coronavirus waged by the state government.

Either fear or negligence was not advisable, he pointed saying that State government was providing all facilities to treat corona patients in government hospitals.  He also appealed to people to visit government hospitals for a check up if they they had any symptoms as  Rapid Antigen Test is being done in all primary health centres. Lockdown was not a permanent solution to the problem and people have to wage a united fight against Covid-19, he opined.

Stating that a live-in relation with corona in the coming nine months was inevitable, Minister advised the people not to venture out unless there was a most important work, and wanted the public to avoid the organization of mass gathering functions. In a majority of cases, people may be infected by the virus due to their negligence. However, sometimes, the public might be infected by virus due to others’ negligence.

People should not feel shy if they were tested positive for the virus. Positive patients, who do not have symptoms, would be provided treatment by keeping them in home isolation based on doctors’ advice. In order to instil confidence among the public, public representatives were doing field visits at the present corona pandemic. Besides Rs 2.28 crore from CSR funds, he promised to give Rs 20 lakh from his personal funds.
