Sleuths of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Wednesday arrested a Panchayat Secretary while he was allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 from a beneficiary of the Indiramma housing scheme at Karnamamidi village in Dandepalli mandal.

ACB officials said the accused, Akkala

Venkataswamy, had demanded the bribe for clearing a bill of Rs 1.50 lakh under the scheme. The beneficiary lodged a complaint with the ACB, which then laid a trap and caught him red-handed.

A case has been registered against Venkataswamy, who will be produced before the special ACB court in Karimnagar.
