Education Minister P Sabitha Indra Reddy said Hyderabad was transforming into a global city and top priority was being accorded for development of road infrastructure to facilitate smooth flow of traffic.

The Minister, along with Mayor Bonthu Rammohan, opened the LHS underpass at LB Nagar and RHS flyover at Kamineni Junction here on Thursday. Both the structures were constructed as part of the Strategic Road Development Plan under Package II. While the RHS Flyover was constructed at a cost of Rs 43 crore, the underpass was constructed at a cost of Rs 14 crore.

Both these structures are expected to ease traffic congestion in the area. The 940-metre flyover facilitates free flow from the Secunderabad side to the Owaisi Hospital and Srisailam road sides. Similarly, the underpass aids in free flow of traffic from the Owaisi Hospital and Srisailam end

towards Secunderabad.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said under the SRDP package–II, 11 projects were planned at a total cost of Rs 448 crore and till date, five projects worth Rs 268 crore were completed. As part of the SRDP package II, an underpass near Chintalkunta, two flyovers near Kamineni, one flyover near LB Nagar towards Vijayawada and the LB Nagar underpass works have been completed and are opened for traffic, she said.

The Kamineni LHS flyover was already completed and in use and with the RHS flyover too now opening for traffic, LB Nagar Junction would be free of congestion. Both these structures will aid in saving travel time, reduction in fuel costs etc. More importantly, the project will also aid in reduction in pollution and noise levels as travelling time will be shortened.
