MIM leaders have sought Chief Minister to increase in minority budget to Rs 2000 crore in the financial year 2016-17. The Owaisi brothers discussed various issues pertaining to the welfare and development of minorities in Telangana. During the 45-minute meeting, they reportedly sought increase in minorities budget to Rs 2,000 crore in 2016-17.
On Sunday, MIM president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi and his younger brother and party’s floor leader in Assembly Akbaruddin Owaisi called on Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao at latter's camp office here. The Owaisi brothers discussed various issues pertaining to the welfare and development of minorities in Telangana. During the 45-minute long meeting, they reportedly demanded increase in minorities budget to Rs. 2,000 crore in 2016-17.
They also stressed on filling up of vacant posts in Minorities Welfare Department to ensure proper implementation of welfare schemes. They said steps should be taken to ensure full utilisation of allocated budget. The MIM leaders also asked the Chief Minister to clear pending 97,000 applications seeking government assistance under Shaadi Mubarak Scheme from the Rs 47.5 crore for the subsidy for the bank-linked loan scheme



for the purpose.
The MIM leaders also urged the Chief Minister to extend the date for submission of application to avail the opportunity under subsidy loan scheme as many people have failed to get benefit of the scheme due to many issues such as non-availability of income certificates or delay in processing the income certificates. Therefore, the date for submission of application for loan should be extended to March 7 from February 29, the said. Moreover, they asked the Chief Minister to increase the amount to Rs 500 crores for the subsidy loan scheme in upcoming budget 2016-17.
The leaders asked the Chief Minister to release Rs 1.75 crore assistance sought by the Archaeology Department for repairs to and restoration works in Mecca Masjid as the plaster on the roof of the mosque is in precarious condition. The amount of Rs 1.75 crores may be released immediately as the Ramzan month is fast approaching, they said.
The MIM leaders also asked KCR to fulfill his promise on protection and restoration of Wakf lands in the State. They demanded that issues like Law & Order, education, health and civic issues in Hyderabad be given importance in the next budget to be presented next month.
