Fisheries Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav and Finance Minister T Harish Rao will formally release free fishlings into Ranganayaka Sagar at Chandalapur and Komati Cheruvu in Siddipet on Wednesday. 

Simultaneously, elected representatives including Ministers, MPs, MLAs, MLCs, Zilla Parishad chairpersons and others will release fish seedlings into other water bodies across the State.

Speaking at a review meeting here on Monday, Srinivas Yadav said the State government was supplying the fish seedlings free of cost for the benefit of the fishermen community in the State. He urged the people to become partners in the programme of releasing fish



seed. He urged all to follow Covid-19 guidelines while participating in fish seed releasing programmes.

The State government was spending Rs 105 crore on fish seedlings and shrimps that are released into several water bodies across the State during the current financial year as against Rs 60.41 crore spent during last fiscal. Of the total Rs 105 crore being spent this year, about Rs 80 crore will be spent on the release of over 93 crore fishlings in about 30,000 water bodies across the State and another Rs 25 crore will be spent for the release of around 10 crore shrimps into 200 water bodies across the State.
