Apart from this, a total of 274 vehicles that were seized during drunk driving checks were returned to their owners following High Court

As for the 54 accidents in which ten were killed and 50 injured, officials said most of the accidents occurred due to human error and road engineering defects.
“Some of the notable human errors include negligent driving, over speeding, drunk driving and self-skidding of vehicles,” a senior official from the Rachakonda Traffic Police said.
The Traffic Engineering Cell staff along with inter-department officials visited nine recent fatal mishap spots and studied the cause of accidents.
“Short term, midterm and long term correctional measures were addressed. The Traffic Engineering Cell staff are continuously coordinating and monitoring the suggestions to rectify the black spots to prevent road crashes in future,” the official said.
Apart from this, the police had put efforts in closing a direct approach to the highway at Choutuppal crossroads to prevent accidents apart from sticking reflectors at Saroornagar, pruning of tree branches and laying of rumble strips.
