The Hyderabad Traffic Police booked 4,197 motorists for using mobile phones while driving during a special enforcement drive conducted from November 1 to 7.
Of the violators, 4,038 were two-wheeler riders, 38 were three-wheeler drivers and 121 were four-wheeler motorists.
Police warned that
using a mobile phone while driving affects concentration, slows reaction time and increases the risk of collisions, endangering both motorists and other road users.
Hyderabad Traffic Police said it was following a zero-tolerance policy towards the violation and would continue conducting special enforcement drives regularly.
