Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh M Bhagwat on Tuesday urged citizens to follow Covid appropriate behaviour during the four-hour relaxation of the lockdown.

The Commissioner, along with other senior police officials, was speaking after participating in a route march that had the special police, mounted police and the traffic police from Dilsukhnagar to LB Nagar covering the fruit market, Rythu Bazaar and other areas en route.

Bhagwat warned of strict action against those not wearing

masks, not maintaining physical distance and those responsible for large gatherings. Such people would be prosecuted using sections of the Disaster Management Act and the IPC, he said.

“The second wave of Covid-19 definitely can be stopped by adhering strictly to Covid appropriate behaviour. Since last week, we have booked 12,394 lockdown violation cases,” Bhagwat said, adding 46 check posts with 3,000 police personnel were working in three shifts.
