Amid criticism over alleged poor planning by the State government, the loss to the public exchequer and inconvenience to commuters, officials have announced the withdrawal of earlier proposals to construct separate underpasses and grade separators around KBR Park.
Officials said the existing one-way traffic system around the park would continue, while a comprehensive elevated corridor was being planned as a long-term solution to traffic congestion in
the area.
The decisions were conveyed to BC Welfare Minister and Hyderabad district in-charge Ponnam Prabhakar during his inspection of the works around KBR Park on Friday.
Defending the revised plan, officials said the integrated elevated corridor would reduce land acquisition and the need for extensive construction-related changes at ground level compared with the earlier proposals for multiple underpasses and grade separators.
