Oil Palm Offers Farmers Stable Income, says Deputy CM Bhatti

Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka on Monday said that oil palm cultivation is a transformative opportunity for the farming community of Khammam district, enabling farmers to achieve higher productivity and better returns in a region that is predominantly dependent on agriculture.

He inaugurated the prestigious Godrej Integrated Palm Oil Industry, established at an investment of nearly Rs.300 crore in Anjanapuram village of Konijerla mandal in Khammam district, along with Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao and representatives of the Godrej management.

Minister said that Khammam is synonymous with agriculture and that farming is the primary livelihood for its people. 

He recalled that the undivided Khammam district once had several industries, but after the reorganization of districts, it has largely remained dependent on agriculture. 

He noted that agriculture in the district depends on irrigation from the Nagarjuna Sagar Left Canal, Palair Reservoir, and Wyra Reservoir. Since farming is the backbone of the local economy, he stressed the need to encourage crops that provide higher yields and greater income. As part of this vision, he urged farmers to take up oil palm cultivation.
