Noted poet, Telugu film Lyricist ‘Sirivennela’ Seetarama Sastry passed away last evening with Lung Cancer related complications at a private hospital in Hyderabad. He was 66.  He was admitted with pneumonia a week ago and was put on ECMO in the ICU. The hospital in a health bulletin said he breathed his last little past 4 PM. 

Born in Amalapuram in present Andhra Pradesh in 1955, Ch. Seetarama Sastry, shot into limelight when provided songs for Sirivennela directed by



eminent Director K Viswanath in late 1980s. later, the film became his known name as Sirivennela Seetarama Sastry. He wrote about three thousand songs,  for over 800 films and most of them, known for their lyrical excellence and also popular. 

The Government of India honoured him with Padma Sri award in 2019 and prior to that he received State Government Nandi Awards for 11 times and film fare awards for 4 times.
