Hundreds of outsourcing employees of the Telangana Model Schools staged a massive protest over their unpaid salaries at the Directorate of School Education here on Tuesday. Carrying their kids, the employees comprising of physical directors, computer operators, attenders and watchmen besieged the Directorate.

According to the protesters, the Congress government has not paid their salaries for the last six months. Currently, 194 Model Schools employ 776 outsourcing employees. “Six months have passed without salaries and it has increasingly become difficult for the families to meet

their daily needs,” said Anjaneyulu, president, Telangana Model Schools Physical Directors Association.

Following the protest, the directorate officials assured the protesters that their salaries would be released by September 8. The employees, who served a strike notice, have threatened to go on indefinite strike by boycotting their work if salaries are not credited by September 8.

Extending solidarity with outsourcing employees, the Telangana Model Schools Teachers Association president Yakamallu urged the government to immediately release employees’ salaries.
