No government land available for SC, ST and BCs, says Revanth Reddy

After admitting that the State government lacked funds to spend even Rs 500 crore a month towards capital expenditure, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Monday said there was no government land available in villages.

There was no patta land available for allotting to SC, ST and BCs. There was no financial flexibility to extend support through different corporations, he said, stressing that only education could transform the lives of the poor and downtrodden.

The Chief Minister laid the foundation for a statue of Sardar Sarvai Pappanna Goud at Tank Bund here on Monday.

Later, addressing the gathering at Ravindra Bharathi, the Chief Minister said he did not want to criticise the absence of BRS and BJP members at the Jantar Mantar protest demanding implementation of 42 percent reservations to BCs.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister G Kishan Reddy should take up the issue with the President and get assent for the two bills passed in the State Assembly, he said.

He alleged that opposition parties were misleading the people, especially BCs, by claiming that the State government was extending reservations to Muslims.

“The BJP government has a grudge against Congress MP Rahul Gandhi. Already many cases are booked, and if required, register four more cases against him, but do not oppose his ideologies,”



Revanth Reddy said.

The Chief Minister also slammed the BJP government, stating that it had come to power with fake votes. Between the Assembly elections and Parliament elections in Maharashtra, one crore new votes were enrolled in four months. How was this possible, he asked, and alleged that the Election Commission of India had ridiculed the Indian Constitution.

“Instead of addressing the concerns raised by Rahul Gandhi, the Election Commission is instructing him to file an affidavit,” Revanth Reddy said.

TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud, speaking at the function, expressed concern that traditional occupations were being neglected. Recalling his recent trip to France, he said a Microsoft vice president had informed him that he hailed from a carpenter’s family and was still continuing with the occupation.

“After going home, the Microsoft vice president in France is continuing his traditional occupation of carpentry,” he said, stating that the Telangana government should ensure that traditional occupations were not neglected and the present generation should be encouraged to take up the professions.

Interestingly, the programme was organised to celebrate Sardar Sarvai Pappanna Goud’s birth anniversary, but the TPCC president concluded his speech by extending Mahatma Jyothibha Phule birth anniversary greetings to the gathering.
