Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) employees Joint Action Committee (JAC) on Tuesday staged a ‘Rasta Roko’ protest at various bus depots in the city.

Tension prevailed for some time at Bus Bhavan when union leaders gathered to stage a protest and raised slogans in support of their demands. The police took several protestors into preventive custody and let them off later.

Speaking to media, JAC convenor, Ashwathama Reddy reiterated that the strike would not be called off as it was their only way to

get their demands addressed. “As IAS committee did not give any clarity on our demands, we have called for a strike. However, we are ready to go for talks with government and RTC management,” he said.

JAC Co-convenor, Thomas Reddy said, “We are getting support from various employees and student unions.”

The strike which began on October 5 has entered the 11th day on Tuesday with authorities continuing to make alternative arrangements for transport services in the city.
