Nizamabad MP Dharmapuri Arvind’s decision to stay away from the BJP meeting at Manneguda on Tuesday, where the new State president is to be announced, has triggered speculation within party ranks and political circles.
Posting on X, the MP stated, “Due to personal reasons, I will not attend the State party events today.”
The BJP’s State unit is meeting at a private convention centre to formally announce the new State president. Union
Minister of State for Labour and Employment Shobha Karandlaje, who also served as the central election Returning Officer, is slated to announce the appointment of former MLC N Ramchander Rao as the new State BJP president.
Arvind was among the key contenders for the post and was reportedly prepared to file his nomination. However, the party’s central leadership directed Ramchander Rao to file his nomination resulting in a unanimous election as no other nominations were received.
