Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) will launch a free heart surgeries initiative for children from Thursday, August 13. The specialised heart procedures will be conducted by the hospital’s CT surgery department in collaboration with London-based physician and pediatric cardiac surgeon Dr. Ramana Tannashuneni and a team of technical experts.
Director, NIMS, Dr Rahul Devraj on Monday said that on behalf of NIMS, the heart surgeries for children will be led by Prof. Amareshwar, Head, CT Surgery and his team. “Children will be evaluated through a walk-in process, with priority
assigned based on medical necessity. After required medical examinations, surgeries will be performed free of cost for children who need them,” Dr Devraj said.
Parents and their children can visit NIMS from Monday to Saturday between 8 am and 2 pm at the CT surgery department, first floor, old block NIMS, Punjagutta, along with previous medical tests and old medical reports, if available. Parents of eligible children can directly visit NIMS during the specified hours without any prior appointment.
