The Resident Doctors Association (RDA) of the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) on Saturday morning called off their strike following assurances of enhanced security measures at the institute and resumed outpatient and elective medical services.

The strike was launched when a junior resident was verbally abused and was threatened by relatives of a patient. Following negotiations

between the RDA and the hospital administration, the NIMS agreed to implement better security facilities.

The hospital management has also registered FIRs related to similar incidents that occurred on August 31 and September 16.

A dedicated Security and Safety Committee has been established to review current protocols, prevent violence, and streamline emergency responses.
