Nineteen children underwent complex heart surgeries in the fifth Pediatric Cardiac Surgery Camp organised by the Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery at Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS).
More than 1,000 children utilised the outpatient services provided by a specialised medical team from the UK, led by paediatric cardiac surgeon
Dr Ramana Dhannapuneni and senior cardiologists from NIMS.
Children identified as requiring surgery during OP services will be admitted to NIMS in subsequent phases for treatment. Held in partnership with the ‘Healing Little Hearts Organization,’ the heart surgery camp also introduced ECMO services at NIMS under the Aarogyasri scheme for the first time.
